Repicci II General Info

MEDICATIONS
While in the hospital, pain medication will be provided on a scheduled basis. Upon discharge, two prescriptions will be given to you, a pain pill and an anti-inflammatory pill. Take them as directed.

Remember your pain/discomfort will usually be at its maximum for the first three days after surgery and then taper off.

It is important to take the anti-inflammatory medication such as Brufen (Ibuprofen) at the prescribed regular intervals. You will continue to take it as directed for 4-6 weeks after surgery.

For the first 3 days after surgery, take the pain pill (Panadene Forte) at the prescribed regular intervals. (round the clock) After the 3 days, you may take them only as needed for pain.

If you encounter difficulty sleeping at night, take 1 or 2 pain pills one hour before going to bed.

Remember to take these pills with food to avoid stomach upset. May want to take an over the counter stool softener to prevent constipation (Normacol).
