Consultation and Referral:

• New Doctor: Dr Kohan available on Tuesday and Wednesday.
• Return of mail: The GP can expect a return letter within10 days.
• Emergency patients: the GP can expect immediate telephone call by Dr Kohan.

Patients expect and receive a great deal of information regarding treatment options, risks and benefits in order to allow them an informed decision. The follow-up letter, which is sent to the referring doctor, refers to the information given to the patient. It is as comprehensive as possible so that the family doctor can further discuss and inform the patient.

Before surgery:

• Initial consultation with Dr Kohan to confirm diagnosis.
• Education done by Dr Kohan’s assistant.
• Each patient is required to attend a pre-admission consultation with our anaesthetist, Dr Kerr. This consult will encompass the standard pre-operative health assessment and education on the pain control scheme

The Joint Orthopaedic Centre has a main office in Bondi Junction, Sydney and a satellite office in Leichhardt, Sydney. The Centre was built to exclusively deliver state of the art orthopaedic care in a friendly and efficient environment. Patient care is paramount.

Resurfacing Surgery

Dr Lawrence Kohan is one of Australia's leading knee resurfacing surgeons. Your knee joint can now be resurfaced through a minimally invasive approach, while you stay in hospital for only the day.

The clinic offers a medical on-call facility for the patients. This service encourages the patient to feel less anxious in the immediate post-operative period.

Anaesthetist

Dr Dennis Kerr is an anaesthetist who specialises in meticulous pain management for the entire post-operative period. A comprehensive education programme accomplishes this. Dr Kerr's service is unique to orthopaedics; the patient achieves a smooth transition through the anaesthetic period which leads to positive patient outcomes.

Medical Assistant

Dr Kohan employs an assistant who institutes the educational programme for the patients. Rebecca Cordingley is a registered nurse specially trained in orthopaedics. Rebecca is available to discuss the medical preparation and the follow up for each patient is complete. This role within the practice is designed to offer the patient a link for all aspects to their orthopaedic experience.
